Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to Common Questions
As the Attorney Success Center grows, this page will serve as a central knowledge base answering the questions Featured Attorneys ask most often. If you don't find the answer you're looking for, feel free to contact me.
Getting Started
-
Featured Attorneys are expected to become the educational face of estate planning in their state.
During your first 120 days, the goal is to create approximately 12-16 educational videos that establish your state's educational library. Once that foundation is in place, most attorneys create approximately one new educational video each month, although many choose to create more.
The emphasis is on consistent, high-quality educational content rather than producing videos in large batches.
-
Most attorneys record several videos during one recording session every month or two.
A typical video requires:
• 10-20 minutes of preparation
• 5-10 minutes to record
AEPS handles editing, graphics, thumbnails, YouTube publishing, website placement, and organization.
-
You do not need an expensive studio.
Most attorneys use:
• Smartphone (iPhone or Android)
• External microphone
• Good lighting
• Quiet office
AEPS provides recommendations for affordable equipment along with recording tips and best practices.
-
Absolutely.
In fact, we encourage it.
Everything you publish strengthens your personal brand, and AEPS will help amplify your educational content whenever possible through links, referrals, and additional exposure.
Creating Content
-
Ownership is shared.
You retain ownership of your original, unedited recordings.
AEPS owns the professionally edited versions created for the American Estate Planning Series platform.
-
Yes.
Since you own your original footage, you may edit, publish, or repurpose those recordings however you wish for your own website, YouTube channel, social media, seminars, or other marketing efforts.
-
Yes.
AEPS handles:
• Editing
• Audio enhancement
• Titles
• Graphics
• Captions
• Thumbnails
• YouTube optimization
• Website organization
Our goal is for attorneys to spend their time educating—not learning video production.
-
Speak naturally, as though you're talking with a client across your conference table.
Videos generally perform better when they:
• Answer one question at a time.
• Tell stories whenever possible.
• Avoid excessive legal jargon.
• Stay conversational.
• Focus on educating rather than selling.
You do not need to memorize scripts. Authenticity consistently outperforms perfection.
Books
-
Books reinforce your authority within your state while providing another educational resource for consumers.
Each participating state will ultimately have its own state-specific estate planning book written in collaboration with the Featured Attorney.
-
Yes.
AEPS will provide the overall structure and publishing process, while you provide the state-specific legal knowledge that makes each book unique.
The goal is to create a professionally published resource that reflects your expertise and supports your state's educational library.
-
The books are published as part of the American Estate Planning Series.
Featured Attorneys receive the benefit of being prominently featured throughout the book as the educational attorney for their state.
Growth & Marketing
-
Featured Attorneys receive periodic updates that may include:
• Website traffic
• Video views
• Watch time
• Impressions
• Search performance
• State page traffic
As AEPS grows, reporting will become even more comprehensive.
-
Many websites discuss estate planning, and many attorneys publish videos.
AEPS is different because it combines:
• National educational content
• State-specific legal education
• Exclusive statewide attorney partnerships
• Learning Centers
• State books
• Consumer resources
• Coordinated YouTube strategy
The goal is not simply to publish videos—it is to build the nation's leading estate planning education platform.
-
Each state begins with one exclusive statewide Featured Attorney.
As traffic grows, larger states may eventually add Metro Attorneys serving designated metropolitan areas.
The Featured Attorney remains the educational leader for the state.
Founder Featured Attorneys also receive the metro-area benefits described in their agreements.
Membership
-
The initial 24-month term allows AEPS to invest heavily in building your state's educational presence.
Our goal is to build long-term relationships with participating attorneys. Renewal options will be communicated well before the initial term expires.
-
Our objective is to build long-term partnerships.
However, participation may end if, for example:
• membership fees are not paid;
• an attorney no longer practices estate planning;
• licensing or professional conduct issues arise;
• prolonged inactivity continues after reasonable communication and opportunities to re-engage; or
• an attorney's actions become inconsistent with the educational mission or reputation of the platform.
Whenever possible, AEPS prefers communication and collaboration rather than termination.
-
No.
Each state has one exclusive Featured Attorney.
Additional attorneys may eventually be added only to serve designated metropolitan areas after the platform has grown substantially.
-
We understand that law practices have busy seasons. A short pause in video production is generally not a concern. Our expectation is simply that Featured Attorneys remain engaged with the platform over the long term. If circumstances change, communication is always appreciated, and we'll work together on a reasonable plan.
